Creighton entered Tuesday's matchup with Nebraska sporting a 2.15 ERA, the fourth-lowest mark in the nation. The Huskers' offense was averaging 9.5 runs over their last six games. Something had to give.

Nebraska's bats quickly made it clear which side that would be.

The Huskers scored three runs in the second and three more in the fifth to establish a big lead, putting away the Bluejays 8-2, their 14th win in the past 15 games.

Nebraska is now 17-7 on the season and is 9-1 at home. It was the Huskers' seventh straight win over Creighton.

NU ripped 11 hits, its sixth straight game with 10 or more.

"We always can play better, but we played a clean game," Darin Erstad said. "We took care of the baseball, we won the walk battle. Those are some things that if you do that, you're going to play consistent baseball. And we got our swings off.

"That's going to come and go. You're not always going to get hits. But you can always throw strikes and play good defense and we did that tonight."

No Husker better exemplifies NU's hot streak at the plate better than Ryan Boldt, who notched three hits in each game of the Purdue series over the weekend. The junior kept it going Tuesday, collecting three hits, including two home runs, and kicking off the scoring with a stinging line drive into the wind for a three-run homer in the second.

"He's a line-drive hitter with power, and those lines drives went out," Erstad said. "When he's seeing the ball well, he can do things at a different level."

Boldt is now 12-for-20 with seven runs and nine RBIs in the past four games. The game was Boldt's first career multi-homer effort, and the junior also swiped a pair of bases.

"I'm just seeing the ball and putting good swings on it," Boldt said. "I've been getting good pitches to hit and I haven't missed them. Hopefully that continues. It's just see ball, hit ball."

Creighton struck back in the third, turning a leadoff walk by Max Knutson into a run. But Nebraska didn't waste any time adding insurance runs, scoring three times in the sixth. Ben Miller was plunked with the bases loaded, and Scott Schreiber followed up with a two-run single.

Steven Reveles extended the lead in the seventh with an RBI double down the left field line, then Boldt provided the exclamation point

Nebraska's pitching took care of the rest. The trio of Knutson, Reece Eddins, and Garett King allowed just six hits and two walks, keeping Creighton from even mounting much of a threat.

The Huskers are in action next this weekend against Illinois. The series kicks off with a 6:35 p.m. contest Friday night.

Shortstop Steven Reveles: Boldt is the only Husker swinging a hotter bat at the moment. Reveles went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a steal and two runs scored to help pace the offense against Creighton. This came after Reveles hit 6-for-13 with four runs and five RBIs over the weekend. Not too shabby for a No. 9 hitter.
